PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU PLAN TO COME AND HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE IN YOUR GROUP. We need this information urgently to make the necessary preparations.

We at YWAM Pretoria aim to organise your outreach and time in South Africa in such a way that you will remember it for the rest of your life. So, DO plan to come!

We invite church groups, youth groups, friendship groups, YWAM/mission groups, specially formed groups, families or any individual to help turn soccer fever into Jesus fever this World Cup.

South Africa Flag

Where?
South Africa is a third world country with fairly good infrastructure. With the 2010 Soccer World Cup (TM) hosted in various cities across the country, we as YWAM Pretoria will reach out to the city of Pretoria, which is also one of the World Cup host cities.

Soccer

We plan sharing Jesus in the streets, in parks, shopping malls and around the stadiums and wherever people gather. We plan to make use of drama's, testimonies, music, mime, worship, puppet shows, healing the sick and whatever way God put on your heart to do.

Also see YWAM Kickoff 2010 for more soccer outreach opportunities.

When?
The championship matches will take place during the time of our winter school break for the period of 11 June 2010 until 11 July 2010.

We suggest to make flight bookings to and from OR Tambo Airport (Johannesburg, South Africa) well in advance.

We realise that arrival and departure dates depends on available flights. It will be possible for you to arrive some time prior to the outreach and / or to depart at a later date.  Should this be the case, we will be able to accommodate you. Accommodation, food and transport costs stay the same throughout your stay with us.

Costs and bookings (Note that all costs are quoted in South African Rand, please check the latest exchange rates for your currency)

Lion

FREE GAME TRIP:
The good news is that with each fully paid participant (participating the full 30 days) you will receive a full day trip to one of our popular game reserves - the Pilansberg game reserve - as our gift to you! This trip to the game reserve will be arranged to take place during the soccer outreach programme. This will be a great opportunity to experience some of our unique game species for free.

The Pilansberg Game Reserve is about 55 000 hectare in size where many game species, including the big 5 (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, rhinoceros) and they are waiting for you to discover them. During our winter season the grass is less dense, which makes it easier to spot the animals. So, you will be here at the best time of the year for game viewing. If you enjoy wild life, then you will surely enjoy this free trip.

Outreach

Outreach Programme:
We will have a variety of opportunities available during the championships.

We will be doing outreaches in & around the city at 'big screen'-broadcasts of soccer games as well as other places. This will be a good opportunity to do evangelism using music, dance or drama's. We also plan to reach out to the poorer neighbourhoods - those young people are looking forward to play soccer with you in the dusty streets and open areas. Please bring your own soccer ball if needed.

Should you see more outreach opportunities, you are welcome to come up with suggestions for it to be arranged. We will let you know of the different outreach opportunities as they develop.

We suggest that each YWAM base put together their own team(s) (with team leader). If people arrive without a team, we suggest they join existing teams and do outreach with them.

Free time:
Every team will have every second day as a free day to relax, do laundry, do outreach preparation and to fellowship (if you like you can still be involved with ministry everyday, even on your free day, if transport is available). There will also be voluntary outreach training opportunities such as dance, drama, mime and various ways of doing outreach. A special bus to a shopping mall in the city will be available every morning and afternoon. Everyone will get one free trip per week to go to the shopping mall on an off day.

Cup Championship matches:
There will be a 'big screen' setup at different places in the city, where you can go and watch all the matches live if you want to. There will be at least one 'big screen' location within walking distance of our accommodation. You are also free to go to watch the matches live at the stadium at your own cost.

Evenings:
We will have our own voluntary evening sessions with prophetic worship, soaking, teaching etc. These evenings are sure to be highlights as we allow the Holy Spirit full freedom to move and work. It is our desire to meet with God and to be equiped and empowered as we spend time in His presence and recieve impartation through praying for one another.

We expect some international worship groups to join us during these times. Our worship co-ordinater is Andre Coetzee (andrecoetzee@absamail.co.za), if you want to be part of the worship teams, please contact him as soon as possible. We plan that some of the worship teams will be performing at the big-screen events in the evenings.

Climate:
South Africa is known as a sunny country and snow fall only happens on a few of the higher mountain ranges. Pretoria as a city has a very moderate climate, but winter nights can still get as cold as 2 degrees celcius and day temperatures average around 15 degrees celcius. Bring a warm sleeping bag and if possible an extra blanket. Our buildings are not heated and will be cold at night.

Friends

Relationships:
In YWAM we believe in deep friendships. We realise that the outreach will be spent in the company of many lovely brothers and sisters and so we do want to remind everyone that the purpose of the outreach is outreach - to allow God to reach people with the Gospel through us. Outreach and holiday romance will distract us from this purpose and we strongly discourage such relationships, but we encourage making new friends and enjoying the fellowship of all the brothers and sisters.

Age restriction:
-There is no age restriction for children who accompany their parents.
-All other children should be responsible young people and at least 13 years of age.
-No one over the age of 13 will be too old to join.

Housing:
Everyone will be housed on mattresses on the floor of the building we are using. We will be renting a school to stay at. Tents may be pitched inside the building by married couples (the married couples must please supply their own 'domed-tents' without pegs). There will be showers with hot water as well as basins and flush toilets.

Food and water:
All tap water in South Africa is safe for drinking. You will not have to buy any bottled water. Three basic but nutritious meals with enough fruit, vegetables and salads will be provided. There will also be a 24/7 bread table with coffee and tea for those who feel the hunger pains between meals and late night.

Security Tip:
Traveling with valuable items is always a risk.  We suggest that you leave expensive items at home and rather bring replacable, cheaper alternatives.  It is a good idea to put items of value in your hand luggage and carry it with you in the plane cabin.
